The Taylor University yearbook was known as The Gem from 1898-1962; The Taylor University yearbook was known as the Ilium from 1962-present; The yearbook was published every other year from 1898-1919 with a special publication in 1916 and then every year from 1920-present except for 1943-1944 when it was published as part of the student newspaper, The Echo, as the Gem-Echo; This volume is subtitled Outstanding in Our Field; This volume includes a segment on the merger of Taylor University and Summit Christian College in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

No table of contents. Numerous pages the text is light in appearance. Margins are very tight and text in the binding of the book.
